Miss Eleanor Lou McDonald, affectionately known as "Louie", 81, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at J W Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Morgantown on October 20, 1938, a daughter of the late Harmon Marion McDonald and Inez Lorraine Berry.

Lou was a 1956 graduate of Morgantown High School. She went on to attend West Virginia University. She proudly worked a total of 43 years as Library Associate at West Virginia University's Wise Library. She was a former member of Morgantown Free Methodist Church for many years, where she served as a church treasurer, CYC Director and faithfully cleaned the church. She was also a former member of the Morgantown First Church of the Nazerene and currently attended Morgantown Church of God.

Lou was considered as a wonderful sister, aunt, great aunt, and great great aunt. She loved to read, and watch much TV sports, most of all, the Mountaineers. Lou was known as a person never forgot special occasions such as birthdays, Easter, Christmas and Valentine's Day. She was known to always send cards to her family.

Lou's message to her family and friends was as follows, "I tried to treat others well although I did not always succeed; I loved God, my family, my friends, my church, children, and my country; and I tried to help others as much as possible".

She was survived by her sister, Susan Virginia McDonald Robe and her husband, Reverend Ronald; a sister-in-law, Yvonne McDonald; two nieces, Cindy McDonald, Christy Robe Holcomb and husband, Edward; one nephew, Chad McDonald and wife, Misty; two great nephews, Kevin Poling and girlfriend, Megan Jones, and Chance Holcomb and girlfriend, Vanessa Blankenship; one great niece, Cayla Holcomb; two great great nephews Hunter, and Kasin Poling; and two great great nieces, Isabella Poling and Anastasia Holcomb.

Honorary family members include Beth Brock Springs and Susie Brock.

In addition to her parents, Lou was preceded in death by fraternal grandparents, David Howard McDonald and Lilly Virginia Nicholson; maternal grandparents, Edward Jackson Berry and Minnie (Verna) Luverna Chenoweth; and her brother, Samuel Lowell McDonald.

The family wishes to thank West Virginia University Hospital, Dept. of Neurology physicians and staff; the 7 West Hospice at WVU physicians and staff; Marion County EMS, Dr. Brian Arthurs and staff.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at 12:00 p.m., at Nicholson Cemetery with Pastor Bill Kittle officiating which will be open to all friends and family.
