Thelma Ruth Castile Cromer, age 92, of LaGrange, GA, passed away Friday, May 1. 2020 at Diverse Care Nursing Home in Lanett, AL.
Mrs. Cromer was born January 2, 1928, in LaGrange, GA, the eldest of seven children of Doctor Sonny Castile and Cloie Pinyon Castile.
For many years she worked at Taylor’s Pharmacy, and later at City Drug Store, both in Manchester. She was also a homemaker and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Manchester. She always enjoyed helping others and enjoyed her longtime role as unofficial caregiver to numerous friends and family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Cromer; a sister, Joyce Coyer; and brothers, Johnny Castile, Jr., and J. B. Castile.
She is survived by her two daughters; Angela Faye Benefield of LaGrange, GA, and Cheryl C. Bates (Buster) of Woodland, GA; grandchildren, Ric Strozier (Ashley) of Lawrenceville, GA, Mark Strozier (Katie) of Ellerslie, GA, Angela Coleman (Chad) of LaGrange, GA, Sheila Burns (Steve) of Grant, AL, Mandi Hutchins (Paul) of LaGrange, and Christi Jones, (Bruce) of Hiram, GA; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Billy Castile (Eleanor) of Warm Springs, Harold Dean Castile of Middlebrooks, FL; a sister, Peggy Williams of Manchester, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
Once the current Covid-19 pandemic subsides, a memorial service for Mrs. Cromer will be held.
Flowers will be accepted or those who desire may make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church.
