Hazel Lee Higgins Foster, 91, passed away at her home in Pasadena, Maryland, on Wednesday, September 21, 2016. Mrs. Foster was born in Unicoi and raised in Erwin. She was employed for over 16 years at the Southern Potteries where she hand painted Blue Ridge china. When the family relocated to Maryland, she worked for several years in the garment industry. She was married for 60 years until his death to Winfred Foster, also of Erwin. She was an avid gardener and loved crafting. She fought a courageous battle during her lengthy illness and never gave up. Her unfailing spirit and courage will sustain and guide her large and loving family. She will be dearly missed. A graveside service and committal burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, on Saturday, October 15, at 11 o’clock.
