James Creech, 70, died April 26, 2020. James was a lifelong resident of Augusta. He retired as an assistant director in the Supply Administration Division at the Medical College of Georgia, where he was employed from 1970 to 2000. James was a member of the 1148 Transportation Unit of the GA Army National Guard from 1968 to 1974. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He had been a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life as a logistical chairman. He was also a Relay for Life Team Captain for the MCG Supply Administration Division. Growing up, he played little league baseball and was a member of the Explorer Scouts of the Boy Scouts at Ft. Gordon. He obtained the rank of Life Scout. He was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Helene Mitchell Creech who passed away in 1994 after 25 years of marriage. Helene was born in Paris, France and has family living in France and Brazil. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Agnes Rowland Creech. His father retired from the Augusta VA Medical Center, where he worked from 1946 until his retirement in 1985. His mother worked at the Augusta Arsenal during World War II and later was a stay at home mother. She was born and raised in Keysville, GA, and was a graduate of Blythe High School, Class of 1939. James is survived by his brother Donald Creech (Mary Ellen), 3 nieces, 2 nephews and ffcousins. A private graveside service was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life of Richmond Co.. Elliott Sons Funeral Home.
