Helen was a great supportive Mom as her husband John Gentry was a great supportive Dad. Helen & John got married on April 21, 1944. He was 19 and she was 15! (A different era.) He went off to war and she held down the home front. Got her GED in the mid to late 60's. Worked in hospitals running their Central Supply at the Valley Medical Center in Kent, Washington, a hospital in Columbia, Missouri when they lived briefly there, and at Glendale Memorial Hospital in Glendale, CA. Daughter Pam was born in 1948, son Paul in 1953 and another daughter Valerie in 1954. Three Baby Boomers!
Grandchldren include Kelly, Kari, Jonathan & Shannen. Great grandchildren include Raven, A.J., Astor, Kaylee, Riley and Freyja.
We can't say good enough things about our Mom. She and my Dad both did not have the greatest or advantageous of upbringings during poor and challenging economic periods of U.S. history but made our 50's and 60's childhoods pleasant ones. We are forever in their debt.
Helen was also a citizen of the Cherokee Nation through her grandmother Rebecca Moton Shamblin.
After Helen's husband John Gentry passed in 1992 she had a few relationship but none stuck like the one she had with Larry Johnson, who passed while having heart surgery in 2003. They're relationship lasted during 1998-2003. Helen never had another relationship after Larry passed.
