EDINBURGH — Melba Burton, 78, of Taylorsville died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, at Community Care Center in Columbus.

Mrs. Burton was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Holiness Church in Columbus.

Funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bethel Holiness Church with the Revs. Robert Thompson and Carson L. Scarbrough officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Eskew– Eaton Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.

Mrs. Burton was born in Shelby County June 13, 1921, the daughter of Edgar A. Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gideon. She married Willie Burton Dec. 31, 1942. He survives.

Other survivors include daughters, Janet Burton of Taylorsville and Linda Scarbrough of Crandall, Ga.; four grandchildren; a brother, Hubert Gideon of Edinburgh; and a sister, Dorothy Gideon of Edinburgh.

Born June 13, 1921, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Edgar A. Ross and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Gideon. On Dec. 31, 1942, she married Willie Burton, and he survives.

Mrs. Burton was a homemaker.

She was a member of Bethel Holiness Church in Columbus.
