Doris King, 76, of Kinston, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward “Earl” King.
Doris loved to travel. Always kept her suitcase packed with the necessities so all she had to add was a few clothes and she was ready to roll! She was the one everyone wanted in their car because she could tell you jokes all the way there and back. Making you laugh until you cried! She loved country music and could dance with the best of them. She loved watching anyone bust a move on the dance floor and then she would try it too – laughing with a good ‘ole belly laugh the whole time!
Doris is survived by her daughters, Wendy Taylor and husband Lynn, and Pam Hill and husband Rusty; grandchildren, Kelly Nelson and husband Carl, Rusty Hill, Jr. and wife Karoline, and Jordan Hill and wife Hannah; great grandchildren, Casey Nelson, Kassidy Nelson, Lilyanna Hill, Rylan Hill and Amelia Hill.; sister, Edna Joyce Taylor and many special nieces and nephews who were a blessing to Doris.
Doris was surrounded by so much love. The family would like to send a huge thank you to all who whispered a prayer, brought a meal, gave us a hug or made a call. Your kindness will always be remembered. A special thank you to Community Hospice. We are forever grateful for the excellent care she received.
In lieu of flowers, an educational fund will be set up for her great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
