Evangelisto served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. While living in Las Cruces he was a member of the VFW Post # 3242 and Las Cruces First Assembly of God.
Survivors included two sons, Tony Anaya (Lydia Reyes) of San Jacinto, CA. and Steve Anaya (Donna) of Ankeny, IA; five daughters, Priscilla Marquez (Alvis Cash) of San Miguel, Evelyn Gomez (Alfred) of Ventura, CA. Jeanette Rios (Ramon) of Rio Rancho, Rose Martinez (Paul Garcia) of Colton, CA. and Sylvia Vielma (David) of Las Cruces; a sister, Deluvina Lopez (Lee) also of Las Cruces. Other survivors included twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Evangelisto was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Annie Anaya; 2nd wife, Alice P. Anaya; two sons, Evangelisto Anaya, Jr. and John Anaya; a grandson, John Anaya Jr.; granddaughter, Joanie Nuygen; four brothers and three sisters.
Service arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapel of Las Cruces.
