Robert Lester Shepard was born to McKinley, Sr. and Lena Callie Shepard on August 20, 1944 in Houston, Texas. He united in Holy matrimony to Ernestine Banks in 1983. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age. He served as a member of Fallbrook Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael Pender, Sr. since 2006.

Robert is a Veteran of the United States Army where he earned several medals, Certificates of Achievement Awards, and Letters of Commendation for his service.

To know Robert is to Love him. His passion for people was recognized by everyone he met. He knew something about everything - just ask Rob, Bob, Robert, Dad, Granddad, Uncle Robert, Shep, Mr. Robert, or Mr. Shepard, he had an answer for you and was always there when you needed him. He is preceded in death by his father-McKinley Shepard Sr., mother-Lena Callie Shepard, brother-McKinley Shepard, Jr., sister-Ida Lee Brown, and brother-D’Shaun Shepard.

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife Ernestine Shepard; 5 children - Thalia S. Bonner (Audwin Scott), Latisha D. Davis (Anthony), Rosita Lastrapes; Corey D. Banks, Frederick N. Banks, Sr. “Nathan”; 2 sisters-Alice M. Cooksey (Nathan) and D’Juana Robertson (James), 10 grandchildren, 6 greatgrandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
