Mrs. Lillie Athene Hand Welch, age 87, of Milner, passed away April 27, 2020 at her home. She was born in Leary, GA, daughter of the late Henry Dorsey Hand and Nora Fannin Hand. Athene was a Registered Nurse for Spalding County Health Department, Griffin Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) and Georgia Diagnostic Center in Jackson. She enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Joe, Clyde, Frances, Paul Allen, and Talmadge.
She is survived by her husband: Tom Welch; daughters and sons-in-law: Shereen and Tom Crowley of Milner, Cathy and David Crook of AL and Teresa Burke of AL; son: Jeff Hand of AZ; grandchildren and their spouses: Dr. Scott and Larissa Hartnett, Gabriel and Mary Roberts, Seth Roberts, Abigail John Marshall, Laurie Jean and Josh Williams, Tommy Smith, Keith and Brittany Moore, Oliver Jordan and Jessica Moore, Lanie and Nick McMillan, Brice and Gabriella Swope, Vince Crowley and Jarred Crowley; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers: Sue Johnson, Jerry Hand, Patsy Sprayberry, Sherry Twedell and Ronnie Hand; many nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service will be held at WCfield on Trice Road.
