A private funeral service for Mr. Douglas Vernon Hayes, 92, of Anniston, will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Hayes will be officiating. Burial will follow the service in Anniston Memorial Gardens. Due to the current COVID 19 virus the service will be private for family only . Mr. Hayes passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Diversicare of Oxford surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris S. Hayes.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Randy Hayes (Diane) and Julie Vinson (Tony); grandchildren, Joshua New (Aleah), Charity Phillips (Lee), Rebekah Hayes; great grandchildren, Taylor Deck, Madison Deck, Bella Phillips, Keegan New, Aurora New, Audrey Helen New, Elora New; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hayes served in the Navy, Army Air Corp, and Air Force for 21 years. He was a missionary to children in Japan. He was the co-founder of Church on the Rock and served as the children's minister. He was also a postal employee for 10 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
