Dakres Louise Bickel (Mousey) loving wife and mother of four children and grandmother of ten grandchildren passed away on Wednesday April 22nd, 2020 at the age of 73 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Dakres was born on September 17th, 1946 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Arthur and Florence (Crain) Klein. Dakres was a 1965 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She married her high school sweetheart Roy A. Bickel, Sr. on June 19th, 1965 at First Christian Church in Mishawaka, Indiana. Dakres shared 54 years with her loving husband creating many memorable experiences. Dakres and Roy became members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and were sealed for time and eternity on September 4th, 1981 in the Washington DC temple. Dakres spent a lot of her time serving others. One of her favorite activities was joining her husband by dressing up as Santa and Rudolf and visiting local hospitals, nursing homes and families to spread Christmas cheer. Dakres was also an active member of EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Chapter 132 in Elkhart, Indiana. As a member of this chapter, she volunteered yearly at the Oshkosh AirVenture Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Dakres was also an active leader working with the Cub Scouts.

Dakres is loved dearly and will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, Christ-like caring, and loving personality. Dakres influence touched many lives, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Yes, Dakres was kindness itself, unless heaven forbid, you stepped on her newly mopped floor. Then you better run for your life! Family was extremely important to her, and she enjoyed spending time with them. Her family will miss the times spent at Potato Creek; Branson, Missouri; Oshkosh Air Show; Six Flags Great America and trips to Arizona and Utah. Dakres loved practical jokes, and could be counted on to laugh until she cried on a fairly regular basis. Dakres will be remembered for her love of going to yard sales. She was able to find anything you needed for a good price. She also had a great love for horses and shared that love with her daughters.

Dakres spent many years helping on the farm and driving a school bus. She then worked at the Family Children Center helping troubled teens as a youth mentor until her retirement.

Dakres is survived by: her husband Roy A. Bickel Sr, her sisters Ann Branson and Margaret Ann Gunnett. Children: Nancy Genta (Scott), Roy A. Bickel Jr. (Erica), Elizabeth Davis (Chuck) and Susan Berger (Steve). Grandchildren: Brandon Potter, Jesse Genta, Abigail Genta, Cody Milliman, Wyatt Berger, Madilyn Berger, Andrew Bickel, Alexander Bickel and Aidan Bickel.

She is preceded in death by: Her father Arthur Klein, mother Florence (Crain) Klein, sister Mary Casper, brothers Arthur Klein Jr. (Butch) and William Klein. Grandson: Kyle Potter.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and other staff members at the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center for their expertise and compassionate care- especially Le Ann Wickham Miller. The family would also like to thank the staff at Elkhart General Hospital Inpatient Rehabilitation Services.

Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, private family graveside services will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
