Gerald Laverne "Buck" Crooks age 73 of Clayton, Illinois and formerly of Rushville and Rock Island, Illinois passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois.
Born November 14, 1932 in Brown County, Illinois a son of Francis & Virginia George Crooks, Buck married Winona J. Roate on September 15, 1951 at the First Christian Church in Mt. Sterling; she survives
Mr. Crooks was a machine operator for Farmall in Rock Island for over 30 years retiring in 1981.
He was of the Christian faith and always enjoyed fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 children Katherine Lutrina Roate and Richard Laverne Crooks, 4 brothers Robert, Norlyn, Ronald and Ray Crooks and 1 sister Mildred Jones
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006 in the Hendricker Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling; Pastor Patsy Spratt officiating.
Burial in Mound Cemetery, Timewell, Illinois.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 8:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
