Antony Norman was a fancy-goods importer on Lambton Quay late 1890s, opposite the Occidental Hotel in Wellington (later the site of Kirkcaldies).

He took over the draper & fancy goods store in Queen St., Masterton, from Tobias Miller in Oct 1903, opposite Hartmann, Hoar and Permain (Cabinettmakers & Upholsterers), whilst continuing his business in Wellington.

In July 1906 he took over one of the new shops, next to the Empire Hotel, just erected by Mr C. E. Daniell. It was a block of two stories, having large, plate glass windows facing Queen Street.

On 28 May 1909 he moved and reopened in new premises, in O'Meara's Buildings, on the other side of the Empire Hotel. While his old premises were untenanted, Mr Daniell used it as a studio to display wallpapers.

Mr Norman decided to close down his drapery business in June 1919, selling all the stock, shop fitting, shelving, cases, etc in an auction.

He then operated a poultry farm at Solway
