Kyle E. Pennington, age 92, of Redcliff Drive, Lenoir, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.

He was born April 26, 1928 in Smyth County Virginia to the late Willard C. and Flossie Haga Pennington.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosey Pennington and Jettie Huffman, and five brothers, Richard Pennington, Kenneth Pennington, Walter Pennington, Dean Pennington and Roy Pennington.

Mr. Pennington worked for Duke Power as Supervisor of Operations. He was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Shirley M. Pennington of the home; one son, Micheal E. Pennington and wife Amanda of Lenoir; five daughters, Patricia "Pat" G. Pennington, Karen P. Whitener and husband Ed, Sandra P. Rich, Susan P. McFarland and husband Fred, all of Lenoir, and Sharon K. Pennington of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Doug Pennington and wife June of Chattanooga, TN and Stanley Pennington and wife Betty of Lenoir; one sister, Oramae Thibodeau of Delaware; six grandchildren, who will serve as pallbearers, Shawn Whitener, Richie Rich, Kyle McFarland, Rebecca Smith, Michelle Rich and Emily McFarland; nine great-grandchildren, Caleb, Griffin, Reuben, Nicholas, Isaac, Katie, Angelica, Logan and Kellie; and three great-great-grandchildren, Clayton, Charlie and Cole.

Due to COVID-19 the family will hold a private graveside service.
