A private family visitation and funeral service will be held at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Mr. Ken Renkes officiating. Interment will be at the Lusk Memorial Cemetery, in Albany.
A memorial to the Albany Ambulance Service has been established.
Jack was born February 24, 1940, in Morrison, IL, to Fred and Theresa (Ashpole) Holcomb.
He was educated in the Dublin Country School in rural Whiteside County, the Albany Grade School and he attended Fulton High School. On October 31, 1959 he married Bonnie A. Ludvigsen, in Clinton, IA. She died on March 3, 1995. Jack, along with Bonnie, owned and operated Holcomb's Lunch in Albany. He then worked and retired from CF Industries in Cordova, IL. Jack was a member of the Albany Lions Club, enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and golfing. He also enjoyed going out to the farm and "farming" and assisting with the management of the Morrison Rockwood State Park Restaurant. Jack treasured spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Luan (Randy) Sikkema, Brenda (Mel) Beiermann and Paula (Todd) Van Zuiden; one son, Rick (Stephanie) Holcomb; eight grandchildren, Tyler (fiancée, Kim Rogis) Beiermann, Ryan Beiermann, Rachael (fiancée, Drew Spencer) Beiermann, Tori (Andy) Toppert, Tara (Matt) Rhoades, Travis (Kate) Van Zuiden, Jeffrey Holcomb and Lisa Holcomb; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pat (Wayne) Anglese and Nancy Bielema and two sisters-in-law, Celia Huizenga and Bonnie Holcomb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie and three brothers, Frank, Donald and Russell Holcomb.
