Obituary
Larry K. Fisher passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 2:30 pm. His wife, Maxine, was at his side when he took his last breath. He was 78 years young. While we are shocked and filled with grief, we know that he would want us to celebrate his life instead of mourning his death.

Larry was born on August 15, 1941 in Lamar, CO to his parents Clifford W. and Margaret Needham Fisher. After his father was killed in the war is mother remarried his stepfather, Marlin McQueen. The family moved quite a bit and Larry eventually landed in La Junta CO to begin his junior year of high school. Larry played on the undefeated La Junta High School Football team, which won the 1958 Class 2A State Championship. He graduated high school in 1960 and went to Hutchinson Business School where her meet his wife, Maxine. They settled in La Junta and began raising a family with their son, Brian.

Larry’s life spanned many decades in La Junta from owning a gas station, working at La Junta Hardware, Montgomery Wards, owing a Montgomery Wards Catalog Agency, and later retiring from Wal-Mart. Larry spent many dedicated years serving his community with the Jaycees, the Elks, the La Junta Police Reserves, and the Chamber of Commerce.

He was a friend to everyone he met and a source of strength for all who knew him.

Larry did not wish to be buried, so there will be no graveside or funeral service. His wife, Maxine and Son, Brian will hold a private memorial and the spreading of his ashes will occur as soon as they are able to be together. He was a private man, so he would have preferred it this way.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maxine; son, Brian of San Francisco; his brother, Keith McQueen of Hutchinson and two sisters, Sharon Likins and Judie Baxter both of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, and his brother, Gary.

As per Larry’s request cremation has taken place and there are no services are scheduled at this time.
