After the death of Martha’s mother in 1871, John Brocklehurst married Ellen McWaters in 1875. In the 1900 census they state they have been married 25 years. I am assuming the Ellen and John both helped in raising Martha and her sister Eliza(1868-1952)-who married J G Gray and lived in Park City, Utah.
1902- Martha's husband Edward Koyle died of an appendicitis. In 1902 the Ladies Society of Eureka raise funds and buy Martha a home to raise her children. 1906 she meets Timothy Desmond. By June 1906 Martha sold her home in Eureka and moved to Salt Lake. By 24 Dec 1906-Martha gives birth to twin daughters under an assumed name of Mary Henrod. Timothy Desmond is arrested for abuse of Martha's children and jailed in Eureka, he later escapes the day before the trial-by the way he is already married to Eva Conrad who lives in Heber, Utah and had 5 children by him. In January 1907 Martha loses custody of her children and the judge states her home is unfit to raise her children. Her daughter Rosetta dies in Dec 1908 in Ogden, By 1910 her daughter Viola is living with her aunt Jane Koyle Williamson who signes giving consent when she marries. Her Sons John and Edward are living with there grandmother, Rosetta Koyle in Idaho and Arlo is in a reform school in Ogden, Utah. It is, in my mind, a very sad story and tragedy for all.
By 1920 the boys are in California. Viola dies in 1918 -by sianide poising-sucide. Martha was never heard of after 1907.
