Casualty Inquiry no: G. 872 Nov 12/1946 Lancaster Mark III LM 742 was reported missing on the night of 17/18th August 1943, primary target for this aircraft was Peenemunde, crew were as follows:68155 S/L A.S. Raphael Pilot980905 SGT V. Smith F. EngCAN/J15882 F/O R.G. Carter Nav.1317456 SGT F. Grey A/Bomber751496 F/SGT D. Fielden WOP/AG1353125 SGT A.G. Brand M.U.A.G.1154625 FS F.B. Garrett Rear A.G.126019 FL M.H. Parry 2nd Air Bomber. R.C.C. telegram reported Raphael and Garrett as being killed. Totenliste (death roll) information received later stated that Garnett and Raphael were shot down at Kolpien-See south shore area. Further Totenliste received states Grey, Parry shot down Aug 18, 1943, buried August 25, 1943, Pennemunde. German captured documents confirm this information. It is requested that esquires be made in order to ascertain the fate and burial details of all this crew.
