Michael Whitney Straight was an American magazine publisher, novelist, and patron of the arts. He was the son of Willard Dickerman Straight, an investment banker, and his wife, Dorothy Payne Whitney, a philanthropist, the daughter of William Collins Whitney, the United States Secretary of the Navy during the first Cleveland administration (1885-1889) and Flora (Payne) Whitney, the daughter of Senator Henry B. Payne of Ohio.
He was married three times, to: Belinda Booth Crompton (born 8/15/1920 at Port Chester, NY, died 12/5/15 at Chevy Chase, MD), divorced, with five children; Nina Gore (Auchencloss) Steers, divorced, no children; and Katharine Gould, no children.
