Funeral Services for Carol Jean Miller, 81, of Athens are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens with Bro. Larry Fondren officiating. Interment will follow at Modoc Cemetery.

Ms. Miller passed away on July 20, 2017 in Malakoff.

Carol Jean Cook Miller was born August 2, 1935 the daughter of George Thomas Cook and Nellie Gray Dykes Cook. She was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church of Athens; staying involved by playing the organ and volunteering. She was a hard-working woman with an eclectic career going from being a florist, to driving 18 wheelers to being a dedicated caretaker and LVN at Cedar Creek Lake Nursing Home. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and loved to read books. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Miller; two brothers, Pat Cook, Pete Cook; one sister Mildred Caver and one daughter Denise Leopard.

She is survived by her two children, Randy Miller and wife Beth of Athens, Dana Becton and husband John of Murchison; five grandchildren, Tyson Miller, Dara Plunkett and husband Todd, Rana Stone and husband Jimmy, Kori Miller, Christy Yebba and husband Charles; ten great grandchildren, Roy Sands, Maddie Aradine, Jason Sands, Matthew Leary, Kari Miller, Kylie Miller, Serina Allison, Abby Leopard, Tess Stone, Cade Plunkett and eight great great-grandchildren, Isabelle Sands, Ruby Sands, JoJo Sands, Abby Aradine, Walker Aradine, Taylen Allison, Serenity Allison and Nesie Allison.

Pallbearers will be Tyson Miller, Dara Plunkett, Todd Plunkett, Rana Stone, Jimmy Stone and Kori Miller

Visitation will be held Monday, July 24, 2017 from 6-8:00 P.M., at the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
