Billie Jean Martin daughter of the late Virge Dixon and Gertrude Simmons, was born in Tyler, Texas on August 5, 1928. Billie was the youngest of 8 siblings. She accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and was baptized in Tyler, Texas. Billie left Texas at an early age to live with her older brother Roscoe and his wife Elnora Dixon, where she attended and graduated from Tamalpais High School, in Mill Valley, CA. Billie was employed for 26 years as a private nurse in San Francisco and Stockton, CA. She met and later united in holy matrimony to Leroy Martin in Fort Worth, Texas on February 17, 1947. This union was blessed with 2 daughters; Alice Marieborn and Lisa Ann was born 16 years later. Billie and Leroy joined El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in San Francisco in 1962, then moved to Providence Baptist church around 1972. When Leroy retired, they moved to Stockton, CA and joined Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where Leroy was an usher and Billie sang in the choir. Her wish was to be a singer. They fellowshipped there until Leroy’s death in 2011. Billie joined the Eastern Stars in San Francisco and transferred her membership to Queen Adah Grand Chapter after moving to Stockton. Billie was a great wife and mother, kind, always had a smile on her face, and a positive words to share. She loved her family fiercely, and wanted everyone to love on another. Billie departed this life on February 22, 2020, she was the youngest of nine siblings and they all preceded her in death. Her husband Leroy and daughter Alice, her grandson Simon all preceded her in death. Billie leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Lisa Ann Robinson, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Esther Martin, sister-in-law, Mary Dixon, 2 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and supportive friends.
