Samuel Lilley, the son of Roger and Frances Lilley, was born in New Brunswick, Canada on 07 Sep 1788. He married Rebecca Green, daughter of William Green on 9 Dec 1819. They were the parents of 12 children, 6 sons and 6 daughters.

Samuel died in Houlton, Aroostook, Maine on 13 May 1868 and was buried, it is believed in the old section of Evergreen Cemetery.
