Charles O. Polster, 86, of St. Anna, died peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Chilton surrounded by his family.
He was born on February 2, 1929 in Sheboygan, son of the late Oris Carl & Agnes (Hartmann) Polster and raised by Clarence Weiskopf.
Charles was a Kiel High School graduate.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army being drafted on February 14, 1951.
On June 25, 1952 he was united in marriage to Joyce Hoehl at St. Ann Catholic Church, St. Anna.
Charles was a well known and excellent carpenter who worked for AA Laun, Pete Brandt and Don Johnson Builders, retiring in 1991. He built many homes in the area, especially Parade of Homes in the Appleton area. In 1974 the couple purchased and operated C & J's Bar in St. Anna until 1993.
He was a lifelong member of the Kiel VFW Post #6707 as well as the New Holstein American Legion Post 124 and a former member of the St. Anna Fire Dept., Calumet Co. Tavern League and Cheboygan Tribe, St. Ann Redmen where he held the past offices of Sachem and was the Keeper of the Wompam. He also taught carpentry to 4-H groups and Boy Scout Troops for many years.
Charles donated many of his woodworking projects to hospitals, fire departments and other charities in the area as well as his family.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joyce and five children; Roger (Mary) Polster, Clyde Polster (Todd Tinker), Kevin (Monica) Polster, Carla (Ron) Prochnow, Bonnie Polster (Don Grissom). He is further survived by seven grandchildren; Justin (Patty) Stepien, Austin Polster (Riley), Winston Polster, Marisa Polster (Matt), Angela (Jeff) Polzin, Jake (Liza) Prochnow, Morgan Prochnow, three great grandchildren, Kaleb, Hannah & Briley, one brother, Lanny (Violet) Weiskopf, one brother-in-law, Gerald (Sharon) Hoehl, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Diane (Harland) Broehm and one brother, Vincent (Rita) Polster.
Funeral services for Charles will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, November 2, 2015 at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel with Deacon Pat Knier officiating.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 pm until the time of service. Military rites will be conducted by both the Kiel VFW as well as the New Holstein American Legion.
