Anita graduated from Memminger High School and studied art at the Teachers College at Columbia University. Anita met Georgia O’ Keeffe at the school.As a young woman, she taught Sabbath School in Charleston at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim. Pollitzer and O’Keeffe remained friends until Anita died.
Anita helped with the passage of the 19th Amendment. She worked as a photographer, lecturer, and organizer for the suffrage movement. After the ratification of the 19th Amendment. She held leadership positions in the National Woman’s Party. Pollitzer was the National Chairman from 1945 to 1949.
Anita married Elie Charlier Edson in December 1928. Edson was a freelance press agent and the uncle of Seeger. Elie supported Anita’s work with women’s rights. The couple lived in New York City. IN 1933, Anita received a master's
degree in international law from Columbia University. Anita Lily Pollitzer Edson died on July 3, 1975.
