Arlene B. Young, age 76, of Sparta and formerly of Mather, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at Rolling Hills Rehabilitation Center in Sparta. She was born Sept. 5, 1930, to John "Jack" and Rachel (Youngs) Kidd at Oakdale. She grew up in the Mill Bluff area. She was united in marriage to LaVern S. "Bud" Young on Jan. 23, 1954, in the Congregational Church in Tomah. They lived most of their life in the Mill Bluff and Mather area and for a short time in Ozark County, MO.

She is survived by three sons, Robert of La Crosse, David (Suzanne) of Tomah and Trent of Wyeville; two daughters, Mary Lou Scott of Washington State and Rachel (Kevin) Kast of Cashton; seven grandsons, six granddaughters and several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest Kidd of Onalaska and Harold Kidd of Blair; a sister, Betty, and a special sister-in-law, Grace Warner as well as other relatives and friends

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband; an infant daughter, Edwina; three sisters, Bonnie, Darlene and Maude, and five brothers, Leo, David, Henry, Jack and Robert.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah. Pastor Ronald Tobin officiated. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery in the town of Oakdale.

Relatives and friends called prior to the service on Wednesday at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
