LEWIS TATE, JR., 60, of Memphis, died Monday, July 30, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Mr. Tate was a retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service. Mr. Tate was also a retired Sargeant First Class in the army during the Vietnam War. He was also a former affiliate Broker for Crye Leike Realtors. He wasthe son of the late Lewis Tate and Lizzie Dabner Tate. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Tate; four daughters, Cynthia Tate, Rachel Tate, both of Raleigh, NC, Latoya Johnson, Toyshia Johnson,both of Memphis, TN; one son, Gerald Lewis Tate of Los Alamitos, CA; one sister, Michelle Tate Miller ofMemphis, TN; five brothers, Sammy Tate, Odell Tate, both of Houston, TX, Johnny Tate of Newllano, LA, Larry Tate, Eric Wayne Tate, both of Memphis, TN; five grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by R. S. Lewis & Sons Funeral Home, 374 Vance Ave., Memphis. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:55 a.m., Monday, August 6, followed by the funeral service atNew Jerusalem Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Gifton Jones officiating.
