Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada on May 12, 1940. She was a loving daughter of the late Harold R. and Minnie E. (Catherwood) Holder.
Linda grew up and began her education in Canada. At age sixteen, she and her mother moved to the United States, settling in Brookline, where she continued her education and was a 1957 graduate of Brookline High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Barnes worked as a teacher’s aide in both the Foxboro and Sharon public school systems. She had made her home in Mansfield for the past forty-four years and had previously resided in Sharon.
Linda’s favorite time by far were those spent with her adoring family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hobbies included playing golf, baking and cooking.
She is survived by her devoted children: Richard L. Barnes, Sr and his wife Marianne of North Attleboro and Kimberley A. James and her companion Stephen Townsend of East Walpole. She was the cherished grandmother of Richard Barnes, Jr and his Kimberly, Allison Barnes and the great grandmother of Aiden, Zoey, Aria Evelyn, Hunter and Layla. She was the dear sister of William Holder and his wife Patricia of Kennebunk, Maine, the late Maxine Holder-Franklin and is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, along with burial at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield will be private.
