Randy was born in Carrollton, Georgia on October 8, 1954 the son of the late Grady Carl Turner and Annie Ruth Clower Dean. He worked to put himself through college and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of West Georgia in 1978.
Randy worked as a chemist for Southern Company for many years until his retirement. Since 2012, he has been the Technical Director for Swan Analytical USA. Randy was hard-working and dedicated to the advancement of the fields of power plant chemistry and water technologies. He authored over a dozen technical papers, served as chairman of many professional committees, and received multiple awards to recognize his contributions.
He was incredibly well-traveled and has touched the lives of many people from all over the world. He was a dedicated father, grandfather, and son of Christ.
Randy was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Poe Turner. He is survived by his mother, Burnette Turner, Carrollton, Georgia, son, Shea Turner, Villa Rica, Georgia, daughter and son-in-law, Chantell and Mark Butler, Carrollton, Georgia, partner for many years, Margaret Lisiecki and her two children, Megan and Mitchell, Carrollton, Georgia, grandchildren Kaitlyn Summey, Sydney Butler, Blake and Rhonda Butler, great grandchildren, Van and Reed Butler, brothers and sisters-in-law, Barry and Patsy Turner, Steve and Pam Dean, David and Denise Tarpley, Carrollton, Georgia, sister and brother-in-law, Sonja and Tony Pitts, Carrollton, Georgia, brother, Bobby Tarpley, Carrollton, Georgia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be a private family Graveside Service on Monday, April 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. and it will be streamed live as well (https://www.facebook.com/jcollinsfuneralhome) with Shane Tarpley officiating and Amanda Tarpley providing the music. Those serving as pallbearers include Colleen Chionis, Barry Turner, Steve Dean, David Tarpley, Braxton Poe, Ronnie Pate, Kevin Murphy, and Ryan Richardson,
