Fannie was a daughter of Jacob and Esther. Saltzberry. She was born and grew up in Wilmot Township, Ontario, where her father was a farmer.

Fannie married Amos Hilborn on March 25, 1880, in Waterloo Township, Ontario. The couple first lived in Wilmot Township (1881 Census of Canada), and later, in Normanby Township, now a part of Grey County (1891 census), Berlin, now Kitchener (Eby, 1895), and the village of Drayton (1901 census). Amos was a miller in a flour mill.

Fannie and Amos had five children:
- Carrie Essie (1881-1895)
- Jacob Cranson (1882-1905)
- Ivan Milford (1887-1973)
- Annie Laura (1891-1960)
- Jesse "Lloyd" (1897-1967)

Fannie died on August 20, 1901. She was buried beside her daughter, Carrie Essie.
