Entrepreneur and Log Home enthusiast Steve Frank Walters, 79, of Flat Rock, NC died peacefully Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Asheville Specialty Hospital. The son of the late Cull and Nell Walters, Steve was born in Greensboro, NC on November 14, 1938 and lived most of his life in Monroe, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Elaine Bullard.

After a career in outside sales he created a log home manufacturing and sales company in the early 1970’s. Steve remained in the log home industry as a CEO/Owner until his death. As a member of Mud Creek Baptist, he loved his church. Steve never met a stranger and lived by Abraham Lincoln’s quote: “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Steve will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Steve was a devoted husband to his wife, Betty Donahue Walters for over 61 years. He was a loving, supportive father to his five sons and spouses, Jim (David), Greg, Cary (Lisa), Shane (Markey) and Todd (Kerry), and caring grandfather to Madison, Jalee, Cameron and Avery and great grandfather to Caroline and Banks. Steve is also survived by his sister, Lois Reinert, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The funeral service, honoring Steve’s life, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Mud Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC with the Reverend Dr. Greg T. Mathis officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45, at the church, prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC, Friday, May 4th at 1:00 p.m.
