Minister Douglas M. Reese, Sr., age 78, departed this life on April 23, 2020 at the Wilmington Hospital.

He was a member of the former First Church of Christ Holiness U.S.A., which is now New Life Christian Center in Wilmington, Delaware.. While attending the church he studied under Bishop Carey Brown, Sr., receiving his license in ministry. He still remained at the church and was under Pastor Calvin Brown. He loved and enjoyed his church.

Minister Reese was a computer software technician for the company formerly known as ICI/Kodak Imaging which is now Astra Zeneca for many years. He was able to retire from the company in 1996.

Minister Reese was preceded in death by his parents, Myra Reese-Jennings and Bruce F. Burgess and his brothers, James Harrison Reese, Brucie Burgess and Lee Andrew Reese. After his mothers death, he was raised in the home of his uncle and aunt, Guy and Katherine Cannon.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Barbara A. Reese; his loving children, Latonya James, LaTisha Reese, Douglas M. Reese, Jr. (TimMeka) and Rana Wilson (David); 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; his siblings, Bernice Taylor, Mildred Wrenn, Rose Sommerville, Donnie J. Burgess, Patricia Gambrell, Agretta Dotson, Barbara Blake and Billy J. Burgess, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, a private celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Congo Legacy Center 501 W. 28th Street, Wilmington, DE 19802. A public viewing will be held from 9:00-10:45 AM only. His burial will be private at Silverbrook Cemetery.
