Karen Charmaine Carpenter, 67 was born on October 7th, 1952 to the late Callie Mae and Leroy Carpenter, the 3rd of 9 children.

On Monday, April 20th, 2020 Karen departed this earthly life. We, the family and friends thank God for her life and the blessings of the memories we will forever cherish.

Karen was born and raised in Norwood, NC. She graduated from South Stanly High School in 1970. She was employed for 30+ years with Collins & Aikman in Norwood, before spending her last working in Home Health with ResCare of Albemarle. She was also an active member of Barringer Chapel Baptist Church, where she served most recently as the President of the Usher Board.

Karen was a friend to many and was known for sharing a smile and kind words. She always had a nurturing heart and shared it as long as she was able. She enjoyed traveling when she could, but above all else she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She kept a smile on faces and was always the “life” of the party. Her earthly presence will be sorely missed by all who loved her.

Karen was preceded in death by her daughter LaKenya Carpenter and grandson Rodney Taylor, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, Terry Watkins, her partner of 40 years. She is also survived by her daughter, Ryan Carpenter, granddaughter, Ce’Kayia Carpenter, and step-daughter, Kenisha Hinson.

In addition, she is survived by her siblings: Wayne Carpenter of Norwood, Veta Dalton and husband Thomas of Winston Salem, Robert Carpenter and wife Tammy of Winston Salem, Sandra Colson and husband Orrin of Norwood, Theresa Carpenter of Winston-Salem, Phyllis Carpenter and Robert Harrell of Albemarle, Crystal Carpenter of Norwood, Kesha Little and husband Kenautis of Norwood. She also has two step-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
