A private graveside service was held this afternoon in Evergreen Memorial Park, McMinnville, for former McMinnville resident Dorothy M. Murray of Portland.

Mrs. Murray died Jan. 17, 2004, in Portland. She was 84.

She was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Platte, S.D., daughter of Henry Oliver and Alice Elizabeth Fyelander Demmon.

She graduated from Platte High School in 1937 and she and Leslie Murray married in 1940.

Mrs. Murray lived in McMinnville from 1940 to 1950, when she was preceded in death by her husband. She moved to Portland in 1950.

She had been employed as a clerk with the Oregon Bureau of Vital Statistics and as a secretary with the state Game Commission.

Mrs. Murray loved to travel and had done so extensively, and belonged to a rug-hooking group.

Survivors iclude two brothers, John Demmon of Vancouver, Wash., and George Demmon of Portland; and three sisters, Hazel Rickards and Helen Antonsen, both of Olympia, and Florence Westra of Platte.

Zeller Chapel of the Roses, Portland, was in charge of arrangements.
