Dale retired from DuPont following 31 years of employment; he then began a second career in real estate with Apple Country Realty. He later was the proprietor of his own real estate broker and development business. He loved guitar and played with different bands, at his church and for his own enjoyment. He attended Edneyville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sandra Caldwell of Edneyville; two daughters, Robin Caldwell of Canton and Delynne Caldwell of Fletcher; two grandchildren, Lauren Jones of Doha Qatar and Leah Burleson and her partner, Daniel Howard and his son, Dane of Charlotte; one sister, Pat Cochran and her husband, Bill of Waynesville; and by several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Edneyville United Methodist Church officiated by the Reverend Jeremy Morris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
