Elsie Elizabeth (Lib) Shields passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020, in Abilene.

A private graveside burial will be held on Monday April 27, 2020, at 11:00 am at Elmwood Funeral Home & Memorial Park. Due to restrictions in place because of the COVID-19 virus, service attendance will be limited. If you would like to attend the graveside service, we ask that you remain inside your vehicle once in the cemetery and tune your radio to 105.7 FM for the funeral broadcast. The family appreciates your attendance but wants everyone to be safe during this time.

Elsie Elizabeth (Lib) Shields was born February 4, 1929, to the late John and Elna Adams.

She grew up in Colorado City, TX, and graduated from Colorado City High School in 1946.

She married Patrick Henry Shields in 1952 and were blessed with 57 years of marriage until his death in 2010.

They lived in Colorado City, Coahoma, and Abilene during their working years, and ran cows on a ranch in Callahan County.

Lib was an avid gardener, and loved to work in her yard, wherever she lived.

She worked as a floral designer and was a successful wedding and event planner.

She loved to fish and was a wonderful cook and baker.

Lib was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John T. Adams, and her husband Patrick Shields.

She is survived by nephews Doug and Tommy Adams, and close friend Shawn Justiss.

The family would like to acknowledge Hendrick Hospice for their support during the past few days, and ask that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Hendrick Hospice, 1651 Pine St Abilene, TX 79601.
