James Gaston “Sonny Boy” Britt, age 85, of Lumberton, passed away on April 26, 2019, at Woodhaven Nursing Facility in Lumberton.
He was born in Robeson County, NC, on March 6, 1934.
Sonny Boy previously worked in the maintenance department at Alamac in Lumberton.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Davis-Britt; his parents, Gaston Columbus Britt and Fodia Taylor-Britt; his brother, Leon Britt; and two great-grandchildren, Randy Edward Locklear, Jr. and Ryan Douglas Locklear.
James is survived by his four sons: James “Buddy” Britt (Debbie), Kenny Britt (Monica), Donald Britt (Sharon), and Carroll Davis, all of Lumberton; his five daughters: Patsy Britt Maynor (Hubert), Helen Britt, Diane Britt Miller (Robert), Carolyn Britt, and Betty Britt Rhyne (Joey), all of Lumberton; one sister, Fronia Freeman of Lumberton; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be held at Floyd Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Bowen, Rev. LeRoy Burke, and Pastor Robert Jordan officiating. The burial services will follow at Pittman Family Cemetery, Beulah Church Road in Lumberton.
