William Ellis (Bill) Buckner passed away on Wednesday 4/22/2020 at the age of 91, at the Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Tallulah, Louisiana, after a long illness. Born in Tallulah on October 12, 1928, he was the youngest of Edward Aylette and Sallie Ellis Buckner three sons, all of whom preded him in death.

After graduating from Tallulah High School and Louisisana State University, he served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force (HQ Strategic Air Command).

In Tallulah, he managed Delta Supply Warehouse, Buckner Home Care Center and the Tallulah Truck Stop. He was active in the American Legion Post 100 and the Madison Voluntary Council on Aging.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Workman Bodron Buckner; brothers Edward Aylette Buckner, Jr. and Louis Buckner, Sr.; nephew Edward A. "Bucky" Buckner, III and niece, Georgie Buckner.

Uncle Bill will be greatly missed by his surviving nieces and nephews and their families: Carolyn Routh Buckner Hall (Jerry), William Percy "Billy" Buckner (Cherry), Sue Ellen Buckner Whitaker (Danny), Louis Buckner, Jr. (Billy Jean Morgan), Nathan Ellis Buckner (Cindy), Janie Clare Buckner Fabre (Kent), Elizabeth "Beth" Buckner Shelton (Mark), Harry Nadler Buckner (Julie); fifteen great nieces and nephews, thirteen great-great nieces and nephews; and two step children.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Natchez City Cemetery in Natchez, Mississippi, with Pastor Kent Fabre officiating under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Billy Buckner, Harry Buckner, Danny Whitaker, Josiah Fabre, and Simeon Fabre.
