Edna Frances (Howe) Mangels, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, peacefully in her sleep at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and her memorial service will be 10 a. m. Saturday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Schultz officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service. A private family interment will be held at a later time. Edna was born Jan. 4, 1923, in Great Falls, to E.A. and Hilma (Johnson) Howe. As a young girl she moved with her family to Havre where she attended Havre schools. Edna married Irvin Martin Mangels on June 14, 1948, in Havre. They raised four children on the farms they worked together in the Hill County area. After retiring from farming, they moved to Wyoming to open their own business, The Big Horn Rock Shop. Edna was a woman of many talents that included cooking, sewing, porcelain creations, lapidary and needlework. She enjoyed reading, bowling, home pizza baking competitions, camping, scouting and playing cards. Her faith in Christ was a great comfort to her. She made many friends, loved to have visitors and will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Irvin Martin Mangels; daughter, Sherry McLain; son, Lynden McLain; sisters, Grace Towman and Charlotte Emmett; brothers, Clarence Howe and Clifford Howe; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Edna is survived by her sons, Dave (Kimberly) Mangels of Billings and Kim Mangels of Havre; brother, Dale (Judy) Sather of Sacramento, Calif.; grandchildren, Edward (Theresa) Harlan of Simi Valley, Calif., Tom Harlan of Seattle; Lynn (Dan) Friede of Chinook; Matt (Patty) McLain of Libby; Amanda and Lynden Gravelin of Columbia Falls, and Dawson and Zachary Mangels of Billings; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions in Edna's honor may be made to a memorial of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
