Thelma Marie Godwin, age 97, of Princeton, Texas, passed away May 25, 2011 in Allen, Texas. She was born on April 28, 1914, in Winningkoff, Texas, to John Wayne and Cassie Myrtle (Gallaher) Dotson. On April 1, 1928, Thelma married Weldon Callaway Godwin, in Wylie, Texas. She grew up in Collin County, and worked as a seamstress for several clothing manufacturers in McKinney, Texas. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and gardening. She is survived by her daughters, Clovene Coffey and husband L.D. of St. Paul, Texas, and Linda Mays and husband George of Frisco, Texas; daughter-in-law, Marty Godwin of Groves, Texas; grandchildren, Mike Coffey and wife Debi, Don Coffey and wife Lisa, Kay Eastham and husband Billy, Jean Brown and husband Glenn, Amy Dye and husband Bill, Stephanie Mays and husband Wes Wright, Kristy Peek and husband David, and Angela Haley and husband Justin; 23 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lean Wesson of Quannah, Texas; brothers, Doug Dotson of Rowlett, Texas and Gene Dotson of Abilene, Texas; a host of other family and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, John Wayne and Cassie Myrtle Dotson; husband, Weldon Callaway Godwin; son, John Godwin; four sisters; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Princeton Cemetery, in Princeton, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Saturday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation Saturday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
