Bolivar Free Press, Feb. 23, 1978-R. B. (Doc) Viles, 81 , Route 2, Halfway, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 1978, in his home after a long illness. Mr. Viles was a member of Schofield Missionary Baptist Church and a 50-year member of Pleasant Hope Masonic Lodge 467. He was retired as a salesman with Farmers Mutual Fire and Lightning Insurance Co. here. Survivors are is wife Maude; a son, Dr. Darel Viles, stationed in Tennessee with the U.S. Navy; two brothers, Jack of Buffalo, and Joe, of Springfield; a sister, Mrs. Verda LeJeune, Springfield; and two step grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wed., Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. in the Pitts Chapel with the Rev. Stephen Skinner officiating. Burial was in the Schofield Cemetery under the direction of the Pitts Funeral Home of Bolivar. Escorts were Morgan Wrinkle, Dean Wrinkle, Rex Vire, Ray Viles, Howard Patterson and Harold Patterson. Note: Parents, Joseph Samuel and Martha Emily Gerstle Viles. Grandparents: Henry B. and Sarah Loftin Viles. GGrandparents: William and Martha Banta Viles.
