Ellen Mae Bousman met James Edward Carpenter In California. They were introduced by a mutual friend from Arkansas and were married on 31 August 1952 in Washoe Co., Nevada. Hannah Parvin (Bousman), Ellen's Aunt was a witness at their wedding per their marriage certificate. Ellen and James settled in Richmond, California where they lived when both of their daughters Frieda Marie Carpenter and Linda Gail Carpenter were born. Ellen had tuberculosis which was being treated by antibiotics. Ellen passed away in 1956 due to an allergic reaction from the antibiotics she was taking to treat the TB. Her oldest daughter Frieda was only two and a half years old and the youngest Linda was only about 3 months old. Ellen's body was shipped back to Hot Springs, Arkansas by train, and her Husband James and oldest daughter Frieda traveled back by car with other family members for the funeral and burial in Hollywood cemetery. Ellen is buried next to her father Jack Bousman and Mother Naomi Bousman. Ellen's husband James cemented the three graves in after finding the graves caved in on one visit in the 60's, when the cemetery wasn't being very well cared for. Ellen's oldest daughter Frieda had her grave marker made on behalf of her sister Linda and herself and had it placed on her grave in 1995. The rose on the headstone was hand drawn by Frieda and given to the engraver. Ellen was loved by all who knew her, for her gentle, caring, and loving nature, and is greatly missed by her daughters.
