Donna Lanning Myers opened her eyes to Jesus on Monday, April 20, 2020. Donna’s friends and family know her as a woman of great faith. While she had many accomplishments on this earth, she would say her greatest one was not one of her own works, but rather through the finished work of Jesus Christ. She gave her life to God on August 14, 1990 and became a tremendous example of a Godly wife and mother. In a letter to her children, she wrote, “I belong to Jesus, there’s no greater place to be than resting in Him and everything He ever did in my life was for my good.”
Donna would say that her second greatest accomplishment was her children and the life she made with her husband of 37 years, Terry Druid Myers. She was incredibly proud of her daughter, Tiffni Myers Berrier and her son-in-law, Brandon Berrier, her son, Joshua Druid Myers and her daughter-in-law, Hannah Guthrie Myers. Spending time with her “grand babies,” Levi Charles Berrier, Emli Ruth Berrier, Ruger Druid Myers, Barrett Guthrie Myers, and Remi Zella Myers, and watching them grow brought her so much joy. While her family rejoices in her home going, her passing has left a tremendous hole here on earth.
Donna was born on November 5, 1962 in Lexington, NC to the late Bobby Odell Lanning, Sr. and Norma Sue Gibson Lanning. She gained another set of loving parents through marriage, Joseph Druid and Juanita Weaver Myers of Lexington, NC. She is survived by her brother, Bobby Odell Lanning, Jr. of Spencer, NC and her sister, Deborah Lanning Anderson of Lexington, NC. The family would like to say a special thank you to Donna’s friend and sister-in-Christ, Kathy Scarlette of Lexington, NC for her unwavering support and friendship.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm Wednesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park with by Donna’s dear friend and Preacher, Clyde Akers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Freedom Baptist Church, PO 1242, Lexington, NC 27293 and to the Joseph Jorrizo, MD Lectureship Fund, c/o Wake Forest Baptist Health, Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Relations, PO Box 571021, Winston-Salem, NC 27157.
