YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS - Wayne J. Griswold, 97, of Yorkville, died Friday, Jan. 31, 1986, at the Sandwich Community Hospital. He was born May 8, 1888, in Kendall County, the son of Jay and Alice (Bradley) Griswold. He married Catherine Vilmin, April 10, 1917, in Chicago. He was a farmer, a member of the Yorkville Lions Club, the Sandwich Moose, Sandwich Sportsmen's Club and the Farm Bureau.
He is survived by two sons, Claude (Winnonah) Griswold, of Vellevue, Mich., and Laraine (Marian) Griswold, of Yorkville; four daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Leona) Meade, of Plano, Mrs. Marcella Johnson, of Yorkville, Mrs. Pat (Alberta) Braffet, of DeKalb, and Mrs. Richard (Marian) Hester, of Yorkville; a daughter-in-law, Betty Griswold, of Batavia; several nieces and nephews; 24 grandchildren; and 26 greatgrandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Katherine; one son, Gerald; his parents; one brother; and four sisters.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 3, at 1:30 p.m., at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville. , Burial will take place at the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home.
