Jack “Richard” Bean, age 88, of Lenoir passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 4, 1931 in Caldwell County to the late Stanley and Ruth Roberts Bean.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth L. Bean; daughter, Callie B. Annas; grandson, Jason Annas; three brothers, Gary Bean, Donald Bean, and Billy Bean; and one sister, Joyce Setzer.

Mr. Bean was a member of First Baptist Church of Hudson.

He owned and operated the Hudson Gulf Service Station. He also was a volunteer firefighter and fire chief of the Hudson Fire Department. He loved coon hunting and enjoyed golfing. Most of all he loved being with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Jeffery D. Bean of Asheville, and Jack Richard Bean Jr. and wife Kim of Lenoir; one brother Terry Bean of New York; two sisters, Geneva Evans of Texas, and Dianah Lail and husband James of Hickory; and his two granddaughters Renee Annas and Annie Z. Bean.

Due to COVID-19 graveside services will be private and conducted by Dr. Charles Brawley.
