On the dawn of Sunday morning July 29, 2018 approximately 2:40 am God called home one of our own, Constance Mitchell. Constance was born on August 6, 1941 in Nansemond County, Va to the late William Daughtrey and Jessie Whitaker Daughtrey Langston. She attended Booker T. Washington High School where she graduated and met her high school classmate, Henry A. Mitchell, whom became the love of her early years. They had five children together and became married for sixteen years.

Constance then wanted to be a complete and devoted mother to her children of five so she had a determination to attend school in order to bring support to her children. She attended The Obici School of Nursing and graduated in 1972 from the LPN school which licensed her with her L.P.N. License. She then wanted and had more determination for growth in the Nursing field so she started working towards her RN license to become a registered nurse. She attended Tidewater Community College (Portsmouth Campus) where she stayed until she passed the necessary requirements to receive her RN license through the State Board of Nursing. She completed the RN program there and became a Registered Nurse by the Commonwealth of Virginia. She worked twenty-five years at several hospitals over Hampton Roads, Va. Her last nursing tenure was as a Director of Nursing at Brent-lox Nursing Facility for some years and William T. Hall Nursing Facility for some three odd years as Director of Nursing. She worked in the medical field of nursing and retired after 31 years as a Director of Nursing at the Brent-lox Nursing Center and William T. Hall Nursing Facility.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Four children William (Pig) Mitchell of Suffolk, Va, Mrs. Monica Bradley (Alton) of Portsmouth, Va, Ms. Carrie (Diane) Mitchell of Suffolk, Va, and Benjamin M. Mitchell of Suffolk, Va. Six Grandsons: Terron Goodman of Roanoke, Va, Trent L. Mitchell of Portsmouth, Va, Alton J. Bradley of Fairfax, Va, Antoine Bradley of Chesapeake, Va, Kenneth Watson Jr. of Alexander, Va, and Maurice Harris of Suffolk, Va. One Grand-daughter: Altonya M. Bradley of Chesapeake, Va. Seven great-grandchildren. Also, three special cousins – Mrs. Theresa Capehart, Mrs Elnora Holland, and Ms. Rita Almond all of Suffolk, Va. And a host of family and friends.
