Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Friday, April 17, 2020. Age 88 years. The daughter of the late Leo and Lillian (Bolster) Rapin, Joyce was born on September 1, 1931 in Saginaw, MI. She married Wayne P. Riffel, on June 12, 1954. He predeceased her January 24, 2015. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her friends and especially her family.

Joyce was a graduate of St. Andrew High School class of 1949. She attended Mercy College and worked as an administrative assistant at St. Stephen High School and Nouvel Catholic Central for several years before her retirement in 1993. She was a member of St. Dominic (St Stephen) Catholic Church and was a longtime volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Surviving are four sons, James (Jane) Riffel, Deerfield, Illinois; David (Mary) Riffel, Pewaukee, Wisconsin; Peter (Marie) Riffel, Mahopac, New York; Paul Riffel, Ashbury, Iowa; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff and administration at the Wellspring – Saginaw facility for all their support and compassion during Joyce’s stay and the medical staff and Chaplain at Covenant Hospital for their care of Joyce.

A memorial service will be scheduled for the immediate family at a future date. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Catholic Church.
