Richard L. Moore age 86 of Timewell, Illinois passed away at 10:33 p.m. Thursday, November 25, 2004 at his residence.
Born November 22, 1918 in Timewell, Illinois a son of Benjamin Miller and Hazel Bernice Alderson Moore, Dick married Shirley Dean Sides on November 30, 1939 at the First Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Illinois; she survives.

Mr. Moore was in the banking business for over 60 years, and had been associated with the Timewell State Bank for the last 58 years, serving the bank as President for over 40 years.

Mr. Moore prided himself on being fair and honest in all of his dealings and was proud that he never had to foreclose on a farm or home. He also owned and operated Moore's Orchard in Timewell, Illinois for many years and was an insurance salesman for Pekin Insurance Company for over 60 years.

Mr. Moore was also in the oil business having drilled the second successful oil well in Brown County. He had also worked for the State of Illinois Auditor's Office for 3 years.

He had attended both Timewell Grade School and High School and graduated from Mt. Sterling High School, Class of 1936. He also attended Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois.

Mr. Moore was a veteran of World War II having served his country in the Pacific Theater while in the United States Army.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Timewell, he was a charter member of both the Timewell Lions Club and the Timewell American Legion Post #1059.

Richard was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a 50-year member of the Quincy Consistory. He was an avid sports fan and always enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play in sports.

Earlier in life he also enjoyed playing softball and was the last surviving member of his Timewell softball team. He loved to fish and hunt and especially enjoyed hunting for frogs, quail and mushrooms, he also enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, but his greatest joy was spending time at home with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Floyd Moore in infancy and 1 sister Mary Yakle Niekamp

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 in the Hendricker Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling; Rev. Dale Gadberry officiating.
Burial will be in the Clayton South Side Cemetery

Military services will be conducted at the graveside.

Friends may call any time after 3:00 on Monday with the family meeting friends from 6 until 9 Monday evening at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday.
