Thomas "Tim" Raymond Simmons, 73, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, of Adrian Michigan, passed away April 15th, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family. Thomas was born March 14th, 1947 in Highland Park, MI to John and Irene (Niemi) Simmons. He attended school at Lincoln Park Public Schools, and in 1964 began work at Great Lakes Steel. In 1965 he enlisted in the USMC during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he returned to Great Lakes Steel, where he retired as a heater on the furnaces,after giving over 30 years of his life. He was very proud of his time at the Mill and made many friends who lovingly referred to him as "chico". In 1978 he married Sandra "San" Ernewein of Allen Park MI, after rekindling their relationship they began in 1965 at the ages of 18, they always talked about how they found their way back to one another. They celebrated 42 wonderful anniversaries together. Thomas was an avid bowler, golfer, poker player, and loved his daily lottery. He enjoyed his hobbies but above all he cherished his time with his family, with his granddaughter and "partner in crime" Abigail. He often said "family is everything and without family you have nothing". In addition to his loving and devoted wife, Sandra Simmons of Adrian MI, he is survived by his daughter Shawn (Ken) Williams of Adrian MI, 1 granddaughter Abigail Williams, 1 brother Jack (Lorraine) Simmons of Clairmont FL, and many nieces and nephews who he loved and cherished as his own. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Deloris Marie Stiers and Mary Louise Fadell. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be planned and announced at a later date due to Covid-19 gathering and travel restrictions at this time.
