April 16, 1939 ~ March 9, 2020

Aaron James Kingsford aka Jim was born in Preston, ID on April 16, 1939. Jim struggled through life with an immensely challenging disease called major bipolar disorder. This disease made it difficult to maintain healthy relationships and do normal everyday activities.

He served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1960.

Jim's first wife was Leola Cathleen Mapes, together they had four children. Jim's second wife was Paula Ann Barnhill, together they had four children.

Jim worked at Hill Air Force Base from 1960 to 1966 and Tinker Airforce Base from 1976 to 1985 as an aircraft mechanic. One of the most honorable achievements Jim succeeded at was obtaining was his Associates of Science from Weber State despite his mental health challenges and duties as a single dad.

He worked part time as a substitute teacher in the machine shop until his mental health declined. Jim enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica and frequently called his children on the phone to sing songs as that was the only way he could positively stay connected. His daughter's Cristen Fischer and Rebecca Foote played an integral role in the longterm support of their dad.

Jim is survived by his sons, Aaron Cloyd Kingsford and Jimmy Kingsford; daughters, Marie Petrey, Cristen Fischer, Rebecca Foote, Rachel Julien, Ruth George, and Mary Nelson; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary LouAnn Hirsch and Sharon Layton. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Kingsford and mother, Venice Hill; and granddaughter, Haylee Fischer.

Jim's focus later in life was on his children and for them to know he loved them dearly even if he didn't know how to show it. Jim's sole source of strength came from his relationship with God.
